In 1979, a photograph taken by a father of his two son's, became a rare
treasure exemplifying everything that America stands for; youth,
innocence, passion, conflicted emotions and the breaking down of
stereotypes. It is these qualities and more which make it an image of
continual intrigue to those that encounter it for the first time.

It creates a feeling of nostalgia and its attraction lives in the hearts
of the viewer. Like the American Gothic, it completely exemplifies a
rare and very specific moment in our history. While at the same time
illustrating a country wrapped so tightly in its consumerism as to make
it sacred.

It resonates in our soul as an illustration of American life. It is not
just compelling by its charm, but by its truth. Some see two kids
dressed as their favorite rock group, but to others there is a depth in
the photo that transcends this, expressing the unifying qualities music
and Art as a whole can have.

It is the evolution through decades that transformed this simple
photograph into a masterpiece of American contemporary art.
